Consultants are an integral part of Ellington and Associates’ continuing expansion of services.  Among those associated with us are such well-respected geoscientists and paleontologists as:

Geochemistry

Anthony Gorody, PhD – geochemistry, mudlogging quality control, environmental assessment, hydrogeology experienced consulting-expert for litigation issues.

Paleontology (wellsite and non-wellsite)

Nannofossils:

Osman Varol, PhD – Very extensive and well-known record of accomplishments.  Worked with over 20 oil companies in 61 countries on sediments ranging from Jurassic to Tertiary.  Recent assignments have been in GoM deepwater, subsalt.  Innovator and champion of industrial application of calcareous nannofossil analyses.  Published zonations schemes for the Paleogene (world-wide and North Sea Basin) and Neogene (South East Asia) in addition to numerous papers on the taxonomy of calcareous nannofossils.  Worked on several of the first North Sea wells to take advantage of new wellsite technologies extensively using calcareous nannofossils to "biosteer" drilling operations.  Additional experience at the wellsite in the use of calcareous nannofossils to determine casing points during the drilling of high pressure wells in various basins around the world.

Eric de Kaenel, PhD – More than 24 years working as a geologist and nannopaleontologist with in-depth experience and knowledge of Jurassic to Quaternary nannofossil biostratigraphy in a variety of regions worldwide, including North Africa (Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco), Europe and Asia Minor (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, Turkey), the North Sea (Norwegian and Danish sectors) Latin America and the Caribbean (Mexico,Trinidad, Venezuela),  and the U.S. (Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Coast).  In addition, Eric has been a key member of the team on the JOIDES Resolution DSDP/ODP Project in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea)

Mark Jiang, PhD – Over 20 years experience in calcareous nannofossil analysis, domestic and international.  Extensive experience in nanno-foram correlations in onshore and offshore Gulf of Mexico.  Many assignments in deepwater GoM, upper Cretaceous to Tertiary. In-depth knowledge in translating floral pulse signals to GoM foram tops, sequences, and eustatic cycles.  Published floral pulse models for GoM Miocene, Oligocene, and Eocene.  Discovered the correlation between Cretaceous coccolith abundance peaks and the 3rd order cycle highstands in the GoM Miocene thereby boosting the effectiveness of calcareous nannofossils as a correlation tool.

David Charles Rutledge, PhD – More than 19 years intensive and varied lab and wellsite experience in nannopaleontology with a detailed working knowledge of Jurassic to Quaternary nannofossil biostratigraphy worldwide, including Trinidad, Brazil, West Africa, North Africa, Southeast Asia, the North Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico.  More that 200 wells.  Assignments include "biosteering" horizontal development wells, casing picks (including high-pressure / high-temperature wells), and long duration overseas jobs in structurally complex settings.

Magdy H. Girgis, PhD – More than 27 years experience in nannopaleontology with a focus on Jurassic to Quaternary nannofossil biostratigraphy in many regions, including the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Yemen), Libya, Egypt (Gulf of Suez, Sinai, Western Desert), Georgia, Azerbaijan, Albania, Europe (North Sea, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands), Southeast Asia (Myanmar, Thailand), West Africa (Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, Ghana), South America (Colombia, Brazil), the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago), and other regions around the globe.  Developed high resolution zonations as biosteering tools for accurate placement of horizontally drilled wells.  Has extensive wellsite experience in (a) actively steering horizontal drillings into carbonates reservoirs (Danian, Maastrichtian, Turonian, Aptian and Barremian ages) in the North sea Basin, (b) monitoring horizontal/highly-deviated drilling into clastic targets: Oligocene offshore Trinidad and Tobago and Miocene offshore Mauritania, and (c) monitoring exploration and appraisal wells, mainly sub-vertical holes, in various basins.
