Elemental Analysis and Chemostratigraphy Services

Ellington & Associates, Inc. and Chemostrat Inc. have formed and alliance to provide elemental analysis and chemostratigraphy from a base in Houston, Texas.

The Houston based lab is the first commercial XRF elemental service based in the U.S.

Chemostratigraphy is a proven stratigraphic correlation tool used in basins around the world utilizing cuttings and core samples. Correlations are successfully used in regional, field and reservoir to reservoir evaluations.

Basis of service is to obtain unique element suites derived from the analysis of cuttings and cores and observe changes throughout the stratigraphic column in the wellbores.

Elemental analysis can enhance petrophysical interpretation and define more exact parameters for well log analysis.

Applications

Petrographic analysis of the sand fraction to determine sandstone mineralogy
Heavy mineral studies of sandstone packages
Determination of the mineralogy of bulk and clay fraction of silt-clay fractions with XRD

Integrated Stratigrahical Evaluations

Capitalizing on the first commerical XRF instrument in Houston, the new alliance with Chemostrat and our own extensive experience with LECO TOC and FID Headspace Gas Analysis, information from all of these disciplines can be integrated into one log-like presentation.

Biostratigraphical Interpretations

Historically, Ellington has worked for and with independent paleontologists who specialize in a myriad of formations and locations. Maximize your result by allowing us assist you in your biostratigraphical needs.

Here is an example of an integrated study that shows some of the available capabilities.
