Production Optimization & Enhanced Oil Recovery

The proposed innovative technology for Oil Production Optimization & Enhanced Oil Recovery (further in the text it’s referred as TPO – Technology for Production Optimization) is primarily applied for optimization of oil production from reservoirs containing oil with Gas to Oil Ratio (GOR > 600 ft3/bbl). It is used when bottomhole pressure is below bubble point pressure and/or in case when a gas cone appears. TPO can be applied to all methods of oil production – fountain, gas lift, and pump production. This technology is based on a very precise mathematical model of the system “reservoir-well” and all of its components.

IIt allows maximization of the current oil production rate and enhancing oil recovery by keeping current bottomhole pressure on the “optimal level”. A principal novelty of the proposed technology is that that the maximum oil flow rate is reached at a certain value of downhole pressure between zero and formation pressure, called “optimal”, or Popt.

This technology can be implemented by using a Downhole Tool (DHT) for adaptive regulation of downhole pressure during production. This tool will automatically keep this pressure closely to the optimal level in various production conditions.

Besides the obvious key benefit of increased oil production rate, the proposed technology brings additional benefits: such as reductions in the current GOR and WOR, mechanical damages and permeability loss,; increases in the ultimate recovery index, life-time of well, formation’s relative permeability; coefficient by oil, productivity index, efficiency of gas-lift and pumps; decelerated depletion of formation pressure; and Improve stability of well performance.

Simulation of Negative Effects in Near-Bottomhole Zone

Ellington & Associates, Inc. specializes in building customized mathematical models and computer simulators for different clients, based on their specific requirements.

For the customized Graphic User Interface we can offer a variety of options:

Data Input – manual input, importing data from an ASCII file(s), Excel spreadsheet, LAS file(s), or other requested formats.

Data Output / Visualization - charts, ASCII tables, Excel spreadsheets, animated cartoons, etc.

A particular customized implementation of a simulator fully belongs to the customer. However, all fundamental mathematical models and underlying knowledge remains an intellectual property of Tseytlin Consulting, Inc.
